Der Ludwig – Glamorous Day Drinking Concept in Heilbronn

In the middle of this year, Heilbronn was enriched by a bar. Der Ludwig is a classic day bar and impresses with its elegance, professionalism and hospitality. Yes, Heilbronn, really. After all, good bars do not necessarily have to be located in metropolises. I lived in Heilbronn myself more than ten years ago and was delighted to be invited to a bar tour with Jürgen Wiese, Rum Ambassador for Kirsch Whisky. Join me for a drink!

A lot has happened since then, and Heilbronn is now one of the most dynamic cities in Germany. As an important business location for the state of Baden-Württemberg and companies such as Unilever or Audi, wallets are a little fuller than in neighbouring cities. An ideal place for upscale drinking culture.

The Ludwig is located directly on the beautiful market square with top sights such as the Heilbronn town hall with its astronomical clock and the Kilianskirche.

After the successful launch of the Old Fashioned Bar two years ago, Elena Mayr and Stefan Glück opened another bar in Heilbronn this year. A former fashion shop next to their Old Fashioned cocktail bar is now home to an elegant day bar. With great attention to detail and based on the experience of past projects, the couple Mayr and Glück have created a modern and elegant meeting place for coffee and aperitifs. During the day you can enjoy coffee and snacks. In the evening the focus is on selected wines and beers, champagne and aperitif cocktails.

What awaits you …

A floor-to-ceiling glass front ensures a light-flooded room and a generous view of the historical surroundings. Think of petrol-coloured walls, black and gold design elements, velvet covers, a cosy lounge area and a large, beautiful bar with an opulent mirror wall and an illuminated bottle rack. The high-quality selection of spirits is ideally set in scene.

Centrepiece of the bar is the seven-metre-long bar counter. It’s not only pleasing to the eye, but functionality and ergonomics have also been taken into account. The bartenders have everything in view and at hand. As a guest, you feel welcome any time.

The Ludwig is an elegant day bar with the glamour of a 1920s hotel bar. Uncomplicated hospitality meets design and attention to detail.

Attention has been paid to every detail, from the floral decoration to the special coffee cups. My espresso provided a special moment of surprise: my finger fitted perfectly into the cup handle and I didn’t even come into contact with the heat of the cup. I looked at Elena Mayr with a smile. Here, you can really feel the love for hospitality.

High-quality coffee, tasty bites, aperitif cocktails, you can make yourself comfortable here all day long. I started with champagne, of course. Followed by a delicious Old Cuban and finally an espresso martini. 

This was a great trip to my old home and I’m looking forward to a repeat. Thanks to Elena Mayr and Stefan Glück for your courage to implement such projects in Heilbronn and your time and passion for making guests happy.
