Here’s a sneak peek into my adventure to @himitsu.speakeasy My quest began at Manifesto Market in Potsdamer Platz. Booking online was a must (limited seating, trust me!). Excitement mounted as I weaved through the vibrant market, following clues – Japanese magazines and manga. Moments later, I stepped into an intimate sanctuary swathed in dim light. Two Unforgettable Experiences for My Tastebuds in Mainz! I enjoyed wonderful coffee at Kaffeekommune and incredible treats at the Hofbäckerei Liesbeth.

@kaffeekommune | Kaffeekommune is a specialty coffee shop and roastery located in Mainz. I enjoyed great Flat White and bought some beans. All their coffees meet the specialty coffee standard and are roasted to emphasize the natural aroma. Their roasting approach aims to highlight the work of the coffee farmers and take a back seat themselves. The team were super attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, making the experience even more enjoyable.

@liesbeth.zollhafen | A golden-yellow glowing lamp in the shape of a croissant hints that behind the tall windows and imposing brick walls of the former locomotive shed of the Hafenbahn at Mainz’s Zoll- und Binnenhafen lies Liesbeth. Here, you can discover delicious pain au chocolat, croissants, and fine pastries. The pain au chocolat was incredible—fluffy, chocolatey, and gone way too quickly. Alongside, I had a flat white made with beans from Kaffeekommune. A highlight for bread fans is the sourdough loaf with its large-pored crumb and crispy crust. In the evening, the place transforms into a trattoria, where pizza dough is made from organic grain flour from the fields of Rheinhessen and a sourdough starter over 20 years old. I’ll be back for pizza on my next visit to the Pfalz!
